Indiana: Lane closures near SR 265 and SR 62 interchange rescheduled to occur October 8, 2014

Sept. 29, 2014 – The following lane closures have been rescheduled to occur on October 8, 2014 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The eastbound SR 265 to eastbound SR 62 loop ramp will be closed. Traffic will need to continue onto Port Road and make a right at the traffic light in order to access the SR 62 eastbound ramp from eastbound 265.

The westbound SR 62 to Port Road loop ramp will be closed. Traffic will need to make a left turn across eastbound SR 62 to access Port Road.

Kentucky: Springdale Road closed October 3-5, 2014

Sept. 26, 2014 – Springdale Road will be closed near the intersection of Wolf Pen Branch Road October 3-5, 2014. This closure is required so that a new Springdale Road and Wolf Pen Branch Road intersection can be constructed. A detour will be set-up for motorists who need to drive along this roadway.

Kentucky: Change in today’s surface blasting schedule

Sept. 26, 2014 – The surface blasting schedule for Friday, September 26, 2014 has been altered. The blast that was scheduled to occur today around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841, has been rescheduled to occur at about 7 p.m. Prior to this blast, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic stops during the blasts will occur on KY 841 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. 42, and on U.S. 42 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and Bridgepointe Boulevard.

Indiana: Blasting schedule for week of September 29, 2014

Sept. 25, 2014 – Blasting to prepare for the East End Crossing is scheduled to occur in Indiana during the week of September 29, 2014. Blasting will occur between Port Road and Upper River Road. These blasts do NOT require traffic stops.

The dates and approximate times will be:

  • Monday, September 29: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 7 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, September 30: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 7 p.m.)
  • Wednesday, October 1: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 7 p.m.)
  • Thursday, October 2: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 7 p.m.)
  • Friday, October 3: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 7 p.m.)
  • Saturday, October 4: Several blasts in the morning (after 9 a.m.) and several blasts in the afternoon (before 4 p.m.)

Kentucky: Blasting schedule for week of September 29, 2014

Sept. 25, 2014 – Blasting to prepare for the new tunnel in the east end of Louisville is scheduled to occur during the week of September 29, 2014.

Surface Blasting: Surface blasting, which began in June 2013, occurs in the east end of Louisville near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841. Prior to each blast, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic stops during the blasts will occur on KY 841 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. 42, and on U.S. 42 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and Bridgepointe Boulevard.

The dates and approximate times for surface blasting (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Monday, September 29, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 30, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 1, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 2, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 3, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 4, at about 11:30 a.m.

Surface Blasting is also scheduled to occur near the intersection of Springdale Road and Wolf Pen Branch Road. The surface blasting at this location began in April 2014. Prior to each blast, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic will be stopped on Springdale Road at the Green Spring Drive intersection, and on Wolf Pen Branch Road from Wolf Pen Woods Drive to Green Spring Drive.

The dates and approximate times for surface blasting (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Monday, September 29, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 30, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 1, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 2, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 3, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 4, at about 11:30 a.m.

Tunnel Blasting: This week’s underground tunnel blasting has been cancelled.  No further tunnel blasting will occur for approximately four to six weeks.  During this period, crews will be installing additional structural supports for the tunnel.  Prior to resuming tunnel blasting, a schedule will be posted on the project website at www.kyinbridges.com.

NOTE: A message will be posted on the project website at www.kyinbridges.com Thursday of each week regarding the anticipated blasting schedule for the following week. Pre-blast surveys are ongoing; no blasting will occur within 500 feet of any residence prior to the completion of a pre-blast survey for that residence.

Indiana: Lane restrictions on SR 62 September 29 – October 3, 2014

Sept. 25, 2014 – There will be lane restrictions on SR 62 in Indiana in the vicinity of the SR 265 and SR 62 interchange September 29 – October 3, 2014 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. each day. The lane restrictions will be in place for about a half mile in each direction of the interchange. Motorists are asked to use caution and drive slowly when driving in the area during this time.

Kentucky: Tunnel blasting this week cancelled

September 23, 2014 – Tunnel Blasting: This week’s underground tunnel blasting has been cancelled.  No further tunnel blasting will occur for approximately four to six weeks.  During this period, crews will be installing additional structural supports for the tunnel.  Prior to resuming tunnel blasting, a schedule will be posted on the project website at www.kyinbridges.com.


Kentucky: Olde Creek Way closure rescheduled for Oct. 6, 2014

Sept. 23, 2014 – The road closure for Olde Creek Way, the back entrance to the Bridgepointe subdivision, has been rescheduled. Olde Creek Way will now be closed the morning of October 6, 2014 and will reopen on or before the evening of October 21, 2014. Residents will have to access the Bridgepointe subdivision through the front entrance off U.S. 42. Olde Creek Way will continue to be accessed by school buses during this time, but closed to residential traffic.

Construction is taking place on existing highways; however, two lanes of interstate traffic, going both ways, will always be open. Some ramps may be blocked for short or extended periods of time. When possible, this website will give at least 30 days of advance notice for traffic control activities.
