Kentucky: Blasting schedule for week of September 2, 2014

Aug. 28, 2014 – Blasting to prepare for the new tunnel in the east end of Louisville is scheduled to occur during the week of September 2, 2014.

Surface Blasting: Surface blasting, which began in June 2013, occurs in the east end of Louisville near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841. Prior to each blast, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic stops during the blasts will occur on KY 841 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. 42, and on U.S. 42 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and Bridgepointe Boulevard.

The dates and approximate times for surface blasting (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Tuesday, September 2, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 3, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 4, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 5, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 6 at about 11:30 a.m.

Tunnel Blasting: Underground tunnel blasting, which began in January 2014, occurs in the east end of Louisville near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841. These blasts do NOT require traffic stops. The noise from blasts may be noticeable, but the blasts pose no risk to the traveling public and local residents. Construction for the underground tunnel requires 24-hour work activities Monday through Saturday, and will continue throughout 2014.

The dates and approximate times for tunnel blasting will be:

  • Tuesday, September 2, at about 7:30 a.m., at about 12 p.m. noon and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 3, at about 6:30 a.m., at about 7:30 a.m., at about 12 p.m. noon and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 4, at about 6:30 a.m., at about 7:30 a.m., at about 12 p.m. noon and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 5, at about 6:30 a.m., at about 7:30 a.m., at about 12 p.m. noon and again at about 4:30 p.m.

Surface Blasting will also take place at the north portal of the tunnel. The north portal is located in the vicinity of Shadow Wood Lane and Shadow Wood Drive. These blasts do NOT require traffic stops.

The dates and approximate times for surface blasting (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Tuesday, September 2, at about 10 a.m.

Surface Blasting is also scheduled to occur near the intersection of Springdale Road and Wolf Pen Branch Road. The surface blasting at this location began in April 2014. Prior to each blast, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic will be stopped on Springdale Road at the Green Spring Drive intersection, and on Wolf Pen Branch Road from Wolfpen Woods Drive to Green Spring Drive.

The dates and approximate times for surface blasting (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Tuesday, September 2, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 3, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 4, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 5, at about 9:30 a.m., at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 6, at about 11:30 a.m.

NOTE: A message will be posted on the project website at www.kyinbridges.com Thursday of each week regarding the anticipated blasting schedule for the following week. Pre-blast surveys are ongoing; no blasting will occur within 500 feet of any residence prior to the completion of a pre-blast survey for that residence.

Indiana: Blasting schedule for week of September 2, 2014

Aug. 28, 2014 – Blasting to prepare for the East End Crossing is scheduled to occur in Indiana during the week of September 2, 2014. Blasting will occur on Brookhollow Road between the Boulder Creek and Brookhollow subdivisions. These blasts do NOT require traffic stops.

The dates and approximate times (within 15 minutes) will be:

  • Tuesday, September 2, at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 3, at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 4, at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 5, at about 11:30 a.m. and again at about 4:30 p.m.

Kentucky: Lane restrictions on River Road September 2-5, 2014.

Aug. 28, 2014 – There will be lane restrictions in Kentucky on River Road in the vicinity of Wolf Pen Branch Road and Timber Ridge Drive September 2-5, 2014. Flaggers will be present during this time to assist in guiding traffic. Motorists are asked to use caution when in the area.

Kentucky: Olde Creek Way rescheduled to close Sept. 15-23, 2014

Aug. 27, 2014 – Due to weather conditions, the road closure for Olde Creek Way, the back entrance to the Bridgepointe subdivision, has been rescheduled. Olde Creek Way will now be closed the morning of September 15, 2014 and is expected to remain closed until the evening of September 23, 2014. Residents will have to access the Bridgepointe subdivision through the front entrance off U.S. 42. Olde Creek Way will continue to be accessed by school buses during this time, but closed to residential traffic.

Indiana: Increased construction traffic in Utica August 26, 2014

Aug. 25, 2014 – There will be a concrete pour utilizing Upper River Road in Indiana in the vicinity of the East End Crossing construction site on August 26, 2014 from 1 a.m. – 1 p.m. This will require an increased amount of construction traffic in Utica, IN during this time. Motorists driving in the Utica-area are asked to use caution and drive slowly during this time.

Construction is taking place on existing highways; however, two lanes of interstate traffic, going both ways, will always be open. Some ramps may be blocked for short or extended periods of time. When possible, this website will give at least 30 days of advance notice for traffic control activities.
